Art Workshops

Craft Action hosts workshops that bring art and creativity to youth in a variety of settings. Some are held in hospitals, while others take place in partnership with organizations that support students with disabilities or those facing economic or social challenges. These workshops create a welcoming space where participants can explore art through hands-on activities such as painting, collage, and origami. Each session is guided by trained high school volunteers or volunteers/directors of partner organizations who encourage creativity and connection through every project.

All workshops are developed by the Craft Action curriculum team and sometimes in collaboration with other nonprofits, ensuring that each experience is meaningful, adaptable, and accessible to the communities we serve.

Art Workshop
January 2026

Craft Action recently hosted a collaborative workshop with So Kids Soar (formerly Dreams for Kids DC), creating an uplifting and creative space for youth to explore art and self-expression. During the workshop, students participated in both a painting activity and a mixed-media collage project, using creativity as a way to share ideas and build confidence.

Craft Action volunteers worked closely with participants, making the event both engaging and meaningful. We were honored to collaborate with Nicole Barnhart, a So Kids Soar Ambassador, and Glenda Smith and Dan Cerullo, SKS Directors, who co-led the activities and brought enthusiasm and guidance to the session. We also want to thank Hammer & Stain Rockville for allowing our organizations to host at the the wonderful venue, and the many amazing individuals who volunteered and participated in the event.

This workshop highlighted the power of art to foster connection, imagination, and joy. We are grateful to So Kids Soar for the partnership and look forward to continuing to create impactful, creativity-driven experiences together.
